Before whitening your teeth, you must complete any diagnosed treatment or dental hygiene to ensure optimal results. Why is this? If you haven’t had a hygiene appointment in a while, plaque and tartar have most likely built up on your teeth. Even if you can’t see it, it is integral that it is removed before going through the teeth whitening process.
Whitening, while plaque and tartar are still present in your smile, can deliver subpar results. It is also very important to take good care of your teeth leading up to your whitening appointment. The better shape your teeth are in, the more likely you will be to walk away with a brighter smile!
While it is easy to find whitening toothpaste and drugstore treatments to whiten your teeth, nothing will have the same effect as ZOOM whitening. This is our in-office teeth whitening option and is one of the most effective methods if you want to see a drastic upgrade in the whiteness of your smile. It lifts stains and discoloration, leaving little to no impact on the gums, which is a concern for many patients.
This is done by your Dallas dentist precisely applying strongly concentrated hydrogen-peroxide-based teeth whitening gel and applying light to it for between 45 minutes and one hour to make it set in. The process used is carefully executed to maximize whiteness and minimize sensitivity after treatment is complete.
There are four main steps in the ZOOM in-office teeth whitening process:
- Your smile will be cleaned and prepared for treatment. This will involve your dentist putting a layer of advanced whitening gel on your teeth.
- An LED lamp will be applied to your teeth to speed up the whitening process of the gel.
- This process will be repeated three times and will be over in 45 minutes to one hour.
- When the desired shade is reached, a post-treatment solution will be applied to your teeth to protect your enamel and reduce overall sensitivity.
With our take-home teeth whitening kits, you will be provided with whitening strips to use for an hour each day for five days straight. Just like with in-office whitening, it is important to make sure your smile is clean and in good health prior to using our whitening strips.
While whitening strips are available at your local corner drugstore, the ones our Dallas dental office provides will contain ingredients to maximize the teeth whitening process. After the five days of whitening are complete, it will take a few more days for the final shade to set in.
