The most common complaint from Invisalign patients isn’t usually about the pain, but rather the “lifestyle interruption” required to stay compliant. Many people find the constant routine of removing trays to eat, finding a bathroom to brush in public, and the inability to snack or sip drinks throughout the day to be quite burdensome. This “stop-and-go” nature of eating can make social situations feel awkward and requires a high level of planning. Additionally, the “attachments”, small, tooth-colored bumps glued to the teeth to help the trays grip, can feel like sandpaper against the lips when the trays are out. While most patients love the final results, the daily maintenance and the strict 22-hour rule are often the hardest parts to navigate.
